London KY Hosts the 2015 Redbud Ride

London, KY has been dubbed the Cycling Capital of Kentucky™.  Duly named so, London is home to some of the most scenic and challenging cycling trails in Kentucky--not to mention the entire country.  And just like a rite of spring when the redbuds trees bloom in the area, The Redbud Ride returns to London, KY.

Cyclists of all skill levels--professionals and amatuers alike--are invited to join the London, KY community on April 24 - 26, 2015 for its Annual Redbud Ride.

About the London KY Redbud Routes

The Redbud Ride is divided into four distinct routes, so there is something for every ability level. The Yellow Route is a 23.5-mile, easy ride through flat, scenic countryside. The route takes the rider across country roads to the McWhorter Church and back to London.

Cyclists ready for more of a challenge may take on the 34.4-mile Orange Route. A little longer with a few more hills, the Orange Route is still pretty easy. It also takes cyclists to the McWhorter Church, but then travels past the church to see some more scenery.

The Green Monster Route is a 70-mile route through scenic countryside, covering both paved and non-paved country roads. Along this route you will ride past the Daniel Boone National Forest, Rockcastle River, the Sheltowee Trace trail and historic bridges.

Finally, the 100-mile Red Route is the most challenging option. Many short hills and the long length of the ride make it a challenge. If you are looking for a ride that will take you past many of the historic and natural wonders around London KY, this is the ride for you.

No matter which route a participant chooses, the Redbud Ride includes a complimentary pancake breakfast, live music at the Farmers Market after the ride, parties planned for both before and after the ride and a post-ride meal.

Other Events Held Redbud Ride Weekend

The Redbud Ride is a community-wide event. In addition to the routes of the Redbud Ride, those interested in participating can attend the 3rd Annual Redbud Warm-Up, a ride hosted on Friday April 24 in nearby Barbourville. This shorter ride is a great way to prepare for the longer ride the next day in London.

On Sunday, Richmond Kentucky offers a Sunday right called the Redbud Recovery. This free ride gives cyclists yet another place to enjoy Kentucky and all that it offers.
