Corbin's Great Outdoors 

Explore the Kentucky wilderness at nearby Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.  Known as the "Niagara Falls of the South," the park's masterpiece is the 125-foot waterfall, which tumbles 60 feet into a rocky gorge. Cumberland Falls State Resort Park offers an abundance of things to do, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, plan your visit during a full moon.  During the full moon, the falls create the only night-visible rainbow in the Western Hemisphere. Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum 

Whether you call Corbin home or you are just passing through, take a bite out of true Americana. Visiting the Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum should top every visitor's "Things to do in Corbin" list.  Find out where Kentucky Fried Chicken got its start in town. Harland Sanders, better known as "Colonel Sanders", opened his first cafe in 1937. Originally, he operated a busy gas and service station in Corbin . When Sanders realized his customers were often hungry, he decided it was his duty to feed them. Legend has it this is where he developed his recipe, including the world-famous 11 herbs and spices.
 

Today, the cafe has been restored, and sits on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum, as its currently restored, was opened in 1990 to mark the 100th anniversary of Colonel Sander's birth. Stepping into the museum and cafe feels like walking back in time, as the dining room looks much as it did in the 1940s. As you continue to explore, you may feel as if you're visiting a curiosities museum. The more you look around, the more you discover about the Colonel's life and the role his little cafe played in the history of many Americans. 

Explore History

While Corbin, KY lacks all the splashy accouterments of a larger metropolitan area, there are plenty of things to do and explore in town. Continue traveling down the path of Corbin's history with a visit to the Corbin Railroad Museum. Newly opened in Spring 2015, the museum sits in Corbin's Old Depot train station. The museum traces the town's role as an important stop along the L&R railroad and the role the railroad played in Kentucky's settlement and America's expansion.

Uncover Kentucky's oldest cultural heritage at the Kentucky Native American Heritage Museum. Founded in 1999, the Native American Heritage Museum's mission is simple: help the public understand how North America's Indigenous People are woven in the fabric of American culture. Explore the life of Native American tribes through cultural, modern and historic perspectives. For a truly special experience, visit the museum during its annual Pow Wow. Held over the Labor Day weekend in 2015, the Pow Wow features Native American music and dancing, as well and a family carnival.
